In the summer of 1998, Laura went to South Korea and Mongolia for an internship focused on healthcare. She was a nursing student at Samford University.
This conversation was about those days and the fruit of that season in Laura's life. In preparation, Laura read through old journals and thought about roots. She writes, "Where we are planted, what soil we dig into, what water we drink. These things seem like small choices every day. But what we eat and drink for months and years and decades will bear fruit."
Laura's journals from those days spoke to her of her longing to understand the purpose of life. She continues, "Through the years I have had the honor of listening to wise mentors and teachers who challenged me to eat and drink the word of God. There are countless people who listened to me and cared for me as I struggled and learned. John was one of them and I am so grateful. And above all, God is faithful.”
